Saturday Night Suppers

snstablesCalvary Baptist Church has been involved with the Saturday Night Suppers (SNS) since the fall of 2001. The suppers are an outreach ministry, and they are held at Royal City Evangelical Missionary Church on 50 Quebec Street in downtown Guelph. The Suppers serve between 90 to 130 hot meals every Saturday evening to those the community considers marginalized. Calvary partners with seventeen other churches in this effort, and we are specifically teamed with Dublin United to serve every twelve weeks. This arrangement has been working well, and it is a real team effort. Calvary's volunteers are a committed group who provide meals, set up, serve, and clean up, and anyone is welcome to join us, even if it's just for one night.

snsbunsBeing involved with the Suppers also provides the opportunity for Calvary to reach out in ways that extend beyond the Supper. For example, if someone desired to put on a program for the guests, or share music during the Supper, we now have the opportunity to share the love of Christ in those ways.

We appreciate very much those who volunteer of their time to come out and serve, and also to those who contribute with donations. We also are thankful to those who prepare food for the Suppers; the number of guests we serve seems to be on the rise, and so any extra help in this area of ministry would be greatly appreciated. Hope to see you there!snspies2

Calvary is scheduled to host Suppers on the following dates in 2009: Jan. 24th, April 25th, July 25th and Oct. 24th

"...'For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and You invited me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me'...'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me'". (Matthew 25:35, 36, 40b).
